Student Scholarships

The FNPF help to facilitate scholarships provided by International donors such as Rotary Clubs. They have assisted in the education of children and adults by funding not only schools, but university degrees too. Currently the foundation supports around 20 high school scholarships, and 2 university degrees. One student has graduated university in DENPASAR? With a degree in veterinary medicine, and will return to the island to be the first and only vet on Nusa Penida.

Community Gardens

The Foundation hosts an open access garden nursery where they grow plants that can be used in natural dyes for fabrics on the island, as well as sharing the beneficial effects of simple gardening methods such as composting. A community organic farming project held at the Foundation’s nursery has helped to teach a range of methods to the local community.

“FNPF community garden start-up program (2013) really had positive results, seeing the locals implement what they’ve learned from the Community Organic Gardening Project, into their own family garden”

-Erin, Head Volunteer Coordinator at FNPF Nusa Penida.

English Conversation Class

With the help of FNPF, and English Conversation Club was able to be established, and has become a regularly successful class. The club runs twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with approximately 20 students between the ages of 7-12. There has been a great enthusiasm within the community to learn English since the implementation of the program by Mike Appleton 2-3 years ago.

“I love Nusa Penida because it’s beautiful and amazing…I don’t like plastic on Nusa Penida”
